Is copenhagen snuff supposed to be dry?

okay so i have a can of copenhagen snuff. the top of the can is silver and black, the sides are red and black. the snuff is very fine cut and also very very dry. is it supposed to be dry or do i just have an old can? the date says january 10th but i just opened it
